As the world's largest-ever meeting on HIV/AIDS wraps up in Toronto, a milestone has been reached: 1 million sub-Saharan Africans are now receiving treatment to help them stay healthy and remain productive members of society despite living with the disease. The milestone has been long in arriving and tremendous numbers remain without treatment access, but it still marks a vast improvement over just three years ago.

Also in today's news section, Action Against Hunger points out that despite the ceasefire 200,000 Lebanese have no home to go back to, and a campaigning group has rebuked the U.S. government for interfering on behalf of Coke and Pepsi after seven Indian states banned their drinks for containing dangerous levels of pesticides.
