Every person killed by U.S. forces in Iraq is the victim of murder, because the U.S. had absolutely no justification for invading and occupying that sovereign country in the fist place. The Iraqi people have the just right to engage in self-defense against violent foreign invasion. This month marks the first anniversary of the Istanbul meeting of the World Tribunal on Iraq. A fitting gesture would be a complete U.S. withdrawal followed by sincere negotiations on reparations to be paid by the occupying powers to the Iraqi people.

The Iraq War is the biggest military, diplomatic and finanical fiasco in over two hundred years of this country. The true coward in this war is the President. Who portraits himself as acting on principle,but hasn't got the moral courage to admit what a disaster this war has been. He would rather"stay the course" at the cost of more American lives than admit his mistakes and get out.

yes i agree. i am currently serving in baghdad,iraq and think this is a big mistake. i believe the president knows he made a big mistake but he is too proud to admit it. to many us soldiers lives have been lost over here and for what. what have we done over here? ill tell you we have did nothing that has made a big difference. this is a waste of time. i wish i could tell the american people what it is really like over here. all that america sees is what the news shows. i go out on missions everyday and know first hand that the people here are the same now as they were when we first came here. how many more of my feloow soldiers must die before that so called president says thats enough. i fear that we will never leave iraq and i also fear that some americans will remain blinded by the lies they are being told by our government. the government has told the people of america that the military has done so well over here but all that we have done is waste our time.

I personally rely upon BBC news because I know we in America arent getting the truth. It is a real shame, and I would give ANYTHING to see George Bushs stupid ass over there having to endure what our soldiers do on the daily. What can you do tho? Im a south african working in Iraq. My personal opinion is that a country as strong as america could have ended this war in three months but for some reason dont want to??What is the use of military check points if ALL the vehicles are not searched? Why dont the defence force concentrate more on the borders of Iraq and prevent explosives and ammunition entering the country, than sending soldiers on useless missions? There is something more to this war that meets the eye. If they really want to have peace in Iraq speak to south african soldiers they wil show you how to start and end a war in an eye wink.....but its just thoughts. :o)

The whole world since 2003 and now the American public through their vote in the midterm elections have spoken about George bush, his cronies and their hawkish policies about the war in Iraq....how ironic is the fact that the president of the only super power in this Uni polar world, invaded a country on the basis of a bunch of lies and facts distorted to suit his own version/s....where are the wmd's and where is the connection al - Qaeda was alleged to have with Saddam Hussein....American forces may stay or leave Iraq, but Iraq and it’s people will never be the same as they were before the invasion...the Americans have now started talking about a phased with drawl from Iraq....for a change how about 1st talking about accountability of the people who waged this war without a cause and have caused irreparable human suffering....political mileages may be gained by politicians, but I hope not at human cost....how does the American government intend to compensate for the lost lives of 650000/= Iraqi civilians and 3000/= American soldiers....how can compensation ever be made to the people who lost their near and dear ones as a result of the invasion?????? this arrogance of George bush and his administration has definitely made this world a lesser safer place to live.... for humanitarian sakes may I request you to please make efforts by spreading this message for the compensation of the damage to life and property in Iraq, as well as for proliferation of the above facts, so that such fake and baseless wars are not waged in future....as a result hopefully George bush and like minded may get enlightened to the effect that diplomacy wins more hearts and minds than actual war does…
It is also known that Iraq was invaded for oil and not in the larger interests of democracy…what has been done cannot be undone…however what can be done is: 1) replacement of American soldiers by international peacekeeping forces, 2) double re construction efforts with American money but through international tenders and companies, 3) serious negotiations with Iraq’s neighbors including Syria and Iran, 4) law for the equitable division of Iraq’s oil amongst all its communities and sects and 5) complete waiver of all Iraqi external debts by all countries including the Paris club…this is the least the world owes to this war torn and ravaged country.

It seems no one here has realy touched on the real reason of why this occupation is taking place. The real reason behind all of it is oil, not because the US wants the oil as people have assumed but rather because China wants the oil and it's the last bargaining chip the US can grab for leverage over China.
You see W. doesn't care so much about the oil but rather the oil rights and who controls who is allowed to buy the Iraqi oil.
The US can not win a war against China and niether could the US corporate monster survive without access to cheap chinesse factories, so the last resort is to control the access to energy supplies closest to China.
If you take the time to think about this it is quite scarey to think the US goverment would so readily throw away so many lives merely to secure it's own brand of economic imperalism.
The US gets almost all of it's oil from the Americas' ie.. Canada, venezuela, not from Iraq. The cost of shipping oil from the middle east to the US would eliminate any real financial gain from importing it.
So the real question is not why did we go to war with Iraq (oil rights) but rather why does America seek to have control over China's energy supplies.

The Solution to Solving the Iraq Debacle

Everyone knows that the Iraq War is proving to be disastrous to the United States and the Global Community financially, morally, and culturally. Whether or not one agrees with the War, its motivation for its beginning, or its ultimate outcome, the simple uncontested fact is that it is now time to draw it to an end. That simple fact is something that every man, woman, and child can agree on, whatever their political predilection.

That being said, since every individual on Earth wants the War to end in a manner that involves as few casualties and economic costs than necessary, then it must become a Global Community effort to end it.

The United States and Britain can no longer sustain this War by themselves, as too many troops and too much money will be lost in a seemingly endless barrage of damming up newly-springing holes in the walls protecting against inevitable chaos.

Therefore the only conceivable solution is to divide the country of Iraq into about 50-100 quadrants. Since Iraq is approximately 437,072 sq km, this means that each and every quadrant will be roughly 4350-8741 sq km. This small amount of space would be totally manageable and easy to govern by each participating country, each of whom would contribute relatively small amounts of money and troops to keep the peace in each of their quadrants.

The costs of not contributing in this way would be far too costly to each and every nation on Earth, since the situation in Iraq threatens the National Security of every country on Earth.

Whether this plan is accomplished under the aegis of the already organized and well funded United Nations, or an ad hoc voluntary group of NGOs from each and every country, this plan will work because it is so manageable, affordable, and ultimately will help to bring Iraq under control.

Each quadrant will concurrently and simultaneously govern in different fashions, respecting human rights above all, and the most successful quadrants will then be slowly emulated by the rest of the quadrants if their form of governing works. Slowly, as stability increases, the quadrants will then be allowed to merge with one another, over time, until finally the country will be totally reunited under one Iraqi banner, but under a form of government which has been proven, over time, to work.

The most important goals of these quadrants is security, preventing death and destruction, rebuilding cities and infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and the like.

Each quadrant will literally compete to see which form of government is the best, and all of the other quadrants will be able to move in the direction of the most successful quadrants.

One National Constitution can be the country’ paramount law, with each and every quadrant functioning as an individual quadrant-state with its own rules and challenges, provided that it falls within the purview of that Constitution.

This is the only solution to getting U.S. and British troops out, and securing the nation of Iraq in the most cost-effective, painless, and secure way.

The first step must be undertaken immediately at the next Convention of the United Nations.

i believe that this war is very different among the other wars this country has had. i believe we are fighting on a miscalculation since there were no findings of these weapons of mass destruction however, it was good to react the way that Bush did because if there were WMDs, we would be in a very serious predicament. But ultimately, I think since 03 invasion was initiated i think things have calmed and somethings just stayed what they were but i thank GOD that we have people in this country who answered the call and went over there and risking their lives for us and i'll soon be going into the army soon after high school so Go Army! We never should have taken Saddam out of power. Of course the man was a brutal dictator whackjob but after I spent 15 months there last year I realized that violence is thier way of life and its all they understand. Maybe if they lightend up the rules of engadgements and let U.S forces rule with an iron fist we'd actually get somewhere with this war.
