After eight straight days of heavy rainfall, flood warnings, and a state of emergency, the sun came out to shine on Boston's second Nonprofit Networking Event, held at the ever-trendy Middle East restaurant in Central Square, Cambridge.

A diverse crowd of over 70 people had the chance to socialize, talk about their work – and do a little business during the 6 to 8 p.m. event.  Many people remained at the Middle East beyond 8 p.m. to continue to catch up with old friends and make new ones. And weren’t the savory dishes from the Middle East’s menu delicious?

As the event wound down, local co-hosts Oxfam America, the Nonprofit Quarterly and Third Sector New England, made short presentations about our work, and more than a dozen door prizes were raffled off. Lucky winners received raffle prizes ranging from a subscription to the Quarterly to tote bags from Oxfam, OneWorld and Big Sisters, and a Prairie Home Companion CD provided by Gather.com. The Quarterly also gave away a number of magazines, and TSNE brought bookmarks from its program, the NonProfitCenter. Many remained at the Middle East beyond 8 p.m. to continue to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

We're already working on the next meeting, so we’ll be sure to be in touch when further details are available. Based on the feedback you provided on our March survey, we'll begin with a short (no more than 10 minutes) topic presentation. Let us know if you have topic ideas or suggestions for other meeting venues.
