The Little Book of Living Green by Mark Hegarty

I am part of the SUSTAIN US-DC email list and someone on the list started a great discussion on living "green" and saving money by posing this question.

"
What decisions do you make that save you money and also benefit the environment?"

To this discussion, I would like to add.
How can we live and work "green?"

Here are some tips and questions I have. Please share your own tips and questions.

Questions

- What type of computer is most energy efficient and long-lasting, so it doesn't end up in the landfill?

- What are some washers and dryers that are energy-efficient?

Tips

- Exchange parties--One of my friends hosted a clothing exchange party.  People brought clothes they didn't want.  It was fun and we all were so excited about the "new" clothes we got. I think we can host exchange parties for books, music, movies and more!  This way we spend less and share more.

- Reusing more--I think we can reuse many things.  We just have to be creative.  Old socks with holes?  What do you do with them?  After you wash them, you can use them to wipe dust, instead of using paper towels.

- Buying in bulk, less packaging the better--Instead of buying cereal in a box, I try to buy cereal in bulk.  I generate less trash and it's also less expensive.

- For women only--For those times of the month, consider using Glad Rags or something similar.
